About Pace Symposia, Inc.

Pace Symposia is an authorized provider of American Heart Association ACLS, PALS and BLS classes. Based in Clovis, California, we service the training needs of medical professionals throughout the state of California. Since 1995 we have trained over 90,000 people and have become one of the largest providers of emergency cardiovascular care training in the western US.

Over the years we have developed several state of the art tools to improve the learning experience in our classes. Our ECG Simulator is the first of these tools to be packaged and offered to the public. As we continue to refine our teaching tools, our public offerings will be updated and expanded.

The AHA’s PALS Course has been updated to reflect new science in the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC. This classroom, Instructor-led course uses a series of videos and simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics. The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes.


This  course reviews the main features of EKG tracings. A method for analyzing EKGs is also presented. This method includes assessment of rhythm, calculating heart rate, observing P-wave forms, measurement of EKG intervals and segments and the evaluation of other relevant waves. 


This is an introduction to 12-lead ECG concepts. It will include introduction to the use of 12-lead equipment, recognition of patterns of myocardial infarction, and recognition of patterns that may mimic acute M.I. Also covered will be bundle branch block, axis determination, and multi-lead rhythm interpretation. Clinical correlation is emphasized. Ample practice time, using real ECGs and supervised by the instructor, is provided.


The AHA’s ECG & Pharmacology Course has been updated to reflect the 2010 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC. This classroom-based, Facilitator-led course is designed to improve electrocardiogram (ECG) recognition skills and pharmacology knowledge for treating cardiovascular emergencies.


Airway Management is a unique program designed to give students the chance to learn, practice and demonstrate their ability in applying many airway skills used in resuscitation. Students increase their awareness of various airway products and skills required. The course is designed into units, and some are optional, so facilitators can present the units that meet the students’ needs.


After participating in this activity, participants will be able to:

1. Demonstrate correct bag-mask ventilation

2. Demonstrate proper insertion of a laryngeal mask airway.

3. Demonstrate proper insertion of an esophageal-tracheal tube.

4. Demonstrate proper insertion of an endotracheal tube.

5. Demonstrate proper use of an impedance threshold device (ITD) with bag-mask ventilations and advanced airways.


PHTLS courses improve the quality of trauma care in your area and decrease mortality. The program is based on a prehospital trauma care philosophy, stressing the treatment of the multi-system trauma patient as a unique entity with specific needs. This may require an approach to the trauma patient that varies from traditional treatment modalities. PHTLS promotes critical thinking as the foundation for providing quality care. It is based on the belief that, given a good fund of knowledge and key principles, EMS practitioners are capable of making reasoned decisions regarding patient care. The PHTLS course is continuously updated and revised to keep up with the advances in the field, ATLS Guidelines and feedback from PHTLS participants.

This is an introductory workshop for nurse practitioners and physician assistants who have limited experience in suturing. The Basic Suturing workshop covers instrument basics such as suture types and selection, proper loading of the needle, wound assessment, local anesthesia, aftercare, and documentation. Participants will have the opportunity to demonstrate basic suturing techniques.  All supplies will be provided for the workshop.  Enrollment is limited in order to optimize the learning experience.

 First Aid is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services arrives. Students learn duties and responsibilities of first aid rescuers; first aid actions for medical emergencies, including severe choking, heart attack, and stroke; and skills for handling injury and environmental emergencies, including external bleeding, broken bones and sprains, and bites and stings.

Acute Stroke


This course is designed for the experienced healthcare provider and is ideal for both in-hospital and out-of-hospital providers who want to improve their knowledge of stroke treatment.


At the end of this course, students will be able to:

• Discuss at least 3 risk factors for stroke

• List at least 2 conditions that can be present with neurologic signs or can mimic stroke, including but not limited to, hypoglycemia and postictal paralysis

• Explain the difference in treatment for ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke

The AHA’s Acute Stroke Course has been updated to reflect science from the 2015

AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC and the new 2015 AHA/ASA Focused Update of the 2013 Guidelines for the Early 

Management of Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke Regarding Endovascular Treatment: a Guideline for Healthcare Professionals from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.

This interactive course provides training on the symptoms, diagnosis, and management of ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke and complications of stroke. 

Course content is based on information from the AHA’s ACLS EP Manual and Resource Text, covering treatment from the field to the emergency department, as well as critical care and rehabilitation.


Acute Stroke


 The AHA’s PEARS (Pediatric Advanced Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization) Course has been updated to reflect new science in the 2015 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC. 

During PEARS, students interact with real patient cases, and realistic simulations and animations to assess and stabilize pediatric patients experiencing respiratory and shock emergencies, and cardiopulmonary arrest. PEARS prepares students to provide appropriate lifesaving interventions within the initial minutes of response until a child can be transferred to an advanced life support provider.

PEARS is for healthcare providers and others who might encounter pediatric emergency situations during their work, including:
